Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf today signaled a cycling rally from Sangrama to Khawaja Bagh to commemorate ‘World Bicycle Day’. The cycling rally was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Baramulla in conjunction with Baramulla District Administration under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.
The rally witnessed a massive turnout of cyclists, with over 100 cyclists pedaling in the rally in addition to employees of the Baramulla Sports and Youth Services Department. Addressing the participants, ADDC Baramulla, who was also the guest of honor on the occasion, appreciated the initiative of the organizing department to celebrate World Bicycle Day and said that cyclists who pedal in the city display drug-free society messages advocating for a clean and green environment.
He said that besides being a sporting activity, cycling carries a huge socio-economic and environmental message. He also said such unique initiatives should be organized more often, adding that the purpose of this rally is to raise awareness about cycling so that cycling becomes a daily routine for fitness and a measure to safeguard the environment. .
In the meantime, a congratulatory program also took place during which the winning cyclists received the certificates. The District Youth Services Sports Officer, Baramulla, along with other staff from relevant departments, were present on the occasion.
